Bulls Roll Tide 53-0

August 28, 2010 - The Carson Ragin' Bulls are off to a great start in their inagural season as they better their record to 3-0 after crushing the California Tide.  Before the Tide could even look up the score was 21-0 mid-first quarter and the Bulls never took their foot off the throttle.  "Finally we did what I have been preaching to the guys this whole season...playing all four quarters of the ball game."  Said Head Coach Tony Downs of his teams performance.

The game started off very quickly with a 30 yard touchdown pass to WR Thyron Lewis from Brandon Brooks.  The rest of the first quarter belonged solely to the Bull's defense and Special Teams as Joey Sarantos intercepted a pass intended for a Tide receiver and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown.  The next series saw CB Raymond Friend return a punt 65 yards on the way to the endzone.  Friend returned another punt in the second quarter for a TD, earning him Special Teams player of the Week.

More newcomers made instant impacts as well for the Bulls as newly acquired target Steve Ozier, a 6 foot 7 wide receiver had 2 receptions for 50 yards and a score.  Both of Oziers catches came by him out-leaping Tide defenders.  Cornerback Billy Trueheart earned his first start with the absence of Lawrence Guynes and seized the opportunity as he returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown.

The Bulls were dominant from beginning to end on this one, and look to ride their huge wave of momentum as they return back home against the 2-0 Central Coast Seminoles.  Game is scheduled for 1pm at Cerritos College.

Brooks Bombs Apaches En Route to a 41-0 Victory

Picture
August 21, 2010 - Bull's Starting Quarterback Brandon Brooks had a perfect passer rating of 158.3 in his debut and led his team to a slaughter of the SoCal Apaches 41-0.  The Ragin' Bulls (2-0) made their franchise debut at home in front of a decent crowd and did not disappoint.  Sparked by a Herb Cash interception the Apaches second series on offense, the Bulls Offense put their foot on the pedal and never let up.  The theme of this game would be introduced early as TE Justin Ellis would catch a 10 yard pass from Brooks to give the Bulls their first points.  Throughout the game Brooks made it rain all over the Apaches secondary finishing with 291 yards on 13 completions, 5 touchdowns and no interceptions.

The biggest treat for Bull's fans was the addition of WR Thyron Lewis who made an instant impact catching 3 passes for 96 yards and 2 TD's.  He has established himself along with teammate Dwayne Sanders as legit deep threats for the Bulls offense.  Sanders added 6 catches for 110 yards and another score.  WR Andrew Harris had 2 receptions for 37 yards and a score.  The ground game also saw their best effort of the season led by Randy Gaither's hard running with 89 yards on 7 carries and his first score of the season.

The Bulls Defense was impressive yet again not allowing a single point to a team that score 44 in their season opener against the Barstow Riffians.  The Bulls defense accounted for 5 turnovers (3 ints, and 2 fumble recoveries).  Freddie Parish recorded his second interception on the season, and Robert Dunn and Herb Cash grabbed their first int's for the year.  The front seven was solid again providing constant pressue to the Apaches quarterback and not allowing any big gains through the running game.

Game Awards
Offensive Player of the Game - QB Brandon Brooks
Defensive Player of the Game - SS Robert Dunn
Special Teams Player of the Game - FS Ray Ross
Big Hit of the Game - CB Lawrence Guynes blows up WR Brandon Embree on a screen pass (pictured above)
Big Catch of the Game - CB Herb Cash comes up with his first INT of the season

The Bulls will travel to Pasadena this week as they face the California Tide at 7pm this Saturday at John Muir High School.  Come and support your Bulls as they try to keep their winning streak alive against a 2009 playoff team.

Home Opener expected to be Huge for Bulls

Picture
August 20, 2010 - The Carson Bulls (1-0) will play the SoCal Apaches (1-0) in their home opener at Cerritos College Stadium.  The Apaches are coming off an impressive win against the Barstow Riffians 44-0, and look to continue on that path versus the Bulls.  Our home team Bulls are coming off a hard fought victory 40-12 against the Compton Panthers.  This should be an exciting game for Bulls and Apache fans as both teams are local and are coming off good victories.

Offensive Analysis
Quarterback Brandon Brooks, who missed game 1 due to a hamstring injury will make the start this week.  QB Brandon Noohi will be inactive this game as he is out of town on business, but will return in game 3 versus the California Tide.  The Apaches should see a heavy dose of the ground game with Randy Gaither, Dartangan Johnson, and Craig Richardson expecting to share the load.  WR's Dwayne Sanders, Andrew Harris, Brandon Brard, Marcus Jenkins, and newly acquired target from the Inglewood Blackhawks Thyron Lewis is also expected to see major reps will test the apaches defensive backs all day.  Sanders is a rocket that can take it to the house from anywhere on the field.  Look for him to be open much of the day.  When he is being double covered look for Harris, Brard, and Lewis to make the secondary pay.

Defensive Analysis
The Bull's defense has been exceptional so far this season showing the maturity of a team in its 10th week.  The Bulls do not give up much on the ground or through the air due to their excellent front seven, and talented group of shut down defenders.  Apaches WR Brandon Embree plans to test the Bulls defense and has already opened his mouth saying he will have 200 yards receiving.  This lit a fire under the Bull's secondary so expect it to be great competition this saturday for Bulls Corners Herb Cash and Lawrence Guynes.  Monitoring the skies this week will be safeties Freddie Parish and Ray Ross.  Starting SS Robert Dunn is out this week with a groin injury.

Please come support your Carson Bulls this Saturday at 1pm.  Tickets will be sold at the gate $10 general admission, children under 12 get in for free.  No outside food or drinks will be allowed.  Go Bulls!!!

Second Half Explosion ignites Bulls past Panthers

Picture
August 14, 2010 - The Carson Ragin' Bulls entered their season opener with a new attitude.  Their intentions were to play as a family, but that would be tested right away as the Compton Panthers drove the opening drive of the game and ultimately scored a touchdown on a 1 yard run.  The Bulls were quickly at a 6-0 disadvantage, and now was time to see the character of the Bulls.  A sputtering offense hindered by many penalties failed to consistently move the football, but the defense held strong for the rest of the first half.  Towards the end of the second quarter, the Bulls offense finally got on track led by rookie QB Brandon Noohi (playing for the injured Brandon Brooks).  Noohi connected with WR Dwayne Sanders with a 28 yard touchdown in the corner of the end zone to bring the score 6-6.  Both teams were unsuccessful in their extra point attempts.  The Bulls threatened to score one more time before the half from a Joey Sarantos interception, but the Panthers defense held strong and stopped the Bulls to keep the score 6-6 going into halftime.

The second half would see a new rejuvenated Bulls squad highlighted by a 34 point explosion.  The Bulls got the ball rolling in the second half scoring early in the third quarter with a 3 yard Dartangan Johnson run bringing making the score 13-6.  The Bulls defense held strong led by their phenomonal front seven that shut down the run and kept constant pressure on Panthers quarterback Ronnie Simpson.  Dartangan Johnson went on to score another 3rd quarter touchdown from a yard out, after a fumble caused by hard hitting safeties Ray Ross and Freddie Parish.  In the fourth quarter the special teams decided to join the party after the snap was over the punters head.  Defensive end Mark Tidwell layed a wicked hit on the Panthers Punter in the endzone causing him to fumble and LB Robert Miller recovered for another Bulls TD.

Two more touchdown passes from Noohi; one to WR Andrew Harris for 20 yards, and the other again to Dwayne Sanders would ultimately bring the final score 40-12 in favor of the Bulls.  Notable performances were QB Brandon Noohi (9 of 16 for 132 yards, 3TD's 0 Int) RB Dartangan Johnson (7 att. 39 yards 5.6 avg, 2 TD's) WR Dwayne Sanders (4 rec. 72 yards, 2 TD's) WR Andrew Harris (2 rec. 30 yards, 1 TD) DT Peter Dubsky (4 tackles, 2TFL, 2 Sacks, fum recovery).  There were also 3 interceptions by the Bulls defense (Joey Sarantos, Freddie Parish, Jae Fletcher).

Please see game awards:
Offensive Player of the Game - QB Brandon Noohi
Defensive Player of the Game - DT Peter Dubsky
Special Teams Player of the Game - TE Merrice Henderson
Big Hit of the Game - DE Mark Tidwell
Big Catch of the Game - LB Joey Sarantos (Interception)

Please tune in next week for the Bulls Home Opener against the SoCal Apaches at 1pm Cerritos College.

Ragin' Bulls prepare for Season Opener

Picture
August 12, 2010 - The Carson Ragin' Bulls will play against the local Compton Panthers in their season debut at Compton High School.  The Bulls who went 1-2 in the preseason, are preparing to make their franchise debut.  The preseason was a rocky one which experienced both positive and negative things.  Clearly the Bulls are talented and probably have the best athletes in Socal Minor League football, but they are also the youngest team in Minor League football and must still gel as a team.  Both of the Bull's preseason losses; one to the Inglewood Blackhawks 21-24, and the other to the Las Vegas Kings 0-32 were valuable lessons to this young Bulls squad.

"We learned that we must play all phases of the game.  We played solid defense, offense struggled to find a rhythm, and special teams was an after-thought.  In this league you must play solid special teams and control the ball on offense to be able to hang with top teams such as the Blackhawks and Kings."  - Bulls Head Coach Tony Downs

Although all is not lost, the Bulls have found some great talent from all over the nation and they are ready to learn those lessons and move on.  "I would much rather learn these lessons now in preseason, then 13 weeks down the road when it eliminates us from winning a championship"  Said Defensive Captain Herb Cash.  "Now we know where we stand, and what we need to improve on to win the close games.  Also we got to find out what time of team we have.  I still feel like we have a legit shot to bounce back and win a championship and now we are more motivated than ever to achieve that goal as a team."

Kickoff for this Saturday is slated for 6pm at Compton High School.  Please come and support your Bulls!

In other news, the Bulls have signed QB Brandon Noohi to a 1-year contract.  Noohi, a 2009 graduate at Central Oklahoma University led the Bronchos to 2 conference championships in as many years.  Hopefully the rookie can bring his winning attitude and spirit to a young ball club.  "He will definately be looked at hard to win the starting QB job.  He must battle Star QB Brandon Brooks to earn this honor."  Offensive Coordinator Rashaun Sanders.

Stage set as Bulls travel to Inglewood

Picture
July 15, 2010 - Saturday renews an "Old but New" rivalry as the Carson Bulls (1-0, 0-0 League) are set to face the Inglewood Blackhawks (1-0, 0-0 League) of the LCFL.  The history of this rivalry comes not from the players of the Bulls, as most of them are new to this level of football.  The rivalry comes from the Owners and Coaches of each team.  The owners of these two teams have played great games against each other for the past two seasons.  Shaun Ballard, owner of the Bulls has seen Tony Reid and his Blackhawks 4 times in the last 2 seasons.  Shaun has won 2 out of those 4 giving him conference championships with each win, while Reid has won the other 2 contests giving the Blackhawks the chance at a League title.  Historically, Shaun's team and Tony's team are always pretty well matched in athleticism and talent.  The game always comes down to a couple big plays, missed opportunities, and execution.

This will be a great measuring stick for the Bull's program as it matches them up against one of the premier teams in Minor League football.  There will be great match-ups all across the board, but here are some of the key ones to watch:

- Blackhawks DE's Kori Dickerson and Doniel Galloway vs Bulls Tackles Vincent Henry, Eric Barrios, and Damien Howard (This will determine the Bull's success on offense)
- Bulls WR Dwayne Sanders vs Blackhawks DB Eddie Hunter (There has been a lot of talking between the two players, will be fun to watch)
- Blackhawks WR Trio Thyron Lewis, Solomon Jones, and John Palmer vs Bulls CB Trio Lawrence Guynes, Herb Cash, and Raymond Friend (Sounds like a track meet)
-  Head to head QB battle Brandon Brooks vs Reggie Haynes (Turnovers will tell determine the outcome of this game)

This will be a fun and competitive game to watch.  Please come and support your Bulls.  Game is Saturday, July 17 @ 7pm.  Location is Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles (Dorsey H.S Stadium).  Admission is $10 at the front gate.

GO BULLS!!!

Bulls too much for the Stallions in Franchise Debut

Picture
Brandon Brooks carries the ball for a 1st down
July 10, 2010 - The Carson Ragin' Bulls could not have asked for a better debut than what they got this Saturday at Cerritos College.  Hosting a nice crowd of over 400 fans, the Bulls did not disappoint as they got off to a rocket-fast start.  WR Dwayne Sanders took the opening kickoff 41 yards, then the first play from scrimmage caught a 64 yard bomb from QB Brandon Brooks for a touchdown.  On the on-suing kickoff, DB Rob Dunn delivered a crushing blow to Stallions kick returner Daniel White and White turned the ball right back over to the Bull's offense.  A couple more plays later, Bulls fans saw Sanders wide open again to make a nice sideline catch from QB Brian Bauer for a 27 yard touchdown strike.  Before the Stallions could even look up, the score was 13-0 in favor of the Bulls.  "We were wondering if we ever were going to get on the field as a defense"  Said Defensive back Herb Cash.

All around the Bulls looked very solid in their opener.  WR Brandon Brard caught a 2nd quarter touchdown from Brooks to add another score for the Bulls.  They went into halftime with a 23-0 lead, and established a persona of being very explosive and physical which carried over to the second half.  The Stallion's offense finally got things going in the third quarter, sparked from a facemask call on 3rd and 30 after a Peter Dubsky sack.  Stallions WR Zach James caught two back to back balls in the flats, the second one resulting in a touchdown for the Stallions.  The extra point made the score 23-7 in favor of the Bulls.  A Jonathan Johnson field goal later brought the score to 26-7.

The Bulls finished the game well, led by Cornerback Lawrence Guynes who intercepted the Stallions quarterback and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown.  On the next offensive series for the Stallions, Guynes picked the Stallions again which put an exclamation point on the defense's great showing.  "I just told Freddie (Starting Strong Safety) that I was going to jump the short routes, he had my back so when I saw the slot break out I broke right in front of it."  Said Guynes about his interception for a touchdown.  Guynes was also awarded with Defensive Player of the Game.

Both Bulls quarterbacks played well combining for three touchdowns and 60 yards rushing.

Other notable performances - RB Randy Gaither (9 carries, 60 yards) WR Marcus Jenkins (2 receptions, 25 yards) LB Tarrant Tutogi (13 tackles) Peter Dubsky, Paul Sarantos, Joey Sarantos (4 total sacks).

Game Awards
Offensive Player of the Game - WR Dwayne Sanders (188 all purpose yards, 2 TD's)
Defensive Player of the Game - DB Lawrence Guynes (2 interceptions, 1 touchdown)
Special Teams Player of the Game - K Jonathan Johnson (2 of 3 on field goals for the day)
Big Hit of the Game - DB Rob Dunn (Forced fumble on kickoff recovered by the Bulls)
Big Catch of the Game - WR Dwayne Sanders (1st play in Bulls history 64 yard TD catch)

Bulls to Merge with California Heat, Join UFAL

Picture
California Heat Logo
June 11, 2010 - The Carson Ragin' Bulls have announced that they will merge Organizations with the California Heat of the United Football Alliance League.  Bulls Owner Shaun Ballard has made a business agreement with Heat Owner Tony Marshall to join forces for the 2010 Season.  "We feel like this is the best situation for us.  We were looking for a steady schedule, league play, and a chance to compete for a league championship.  Tony and I have been friends for many years, we have a great working relationship and plan to win many games this season."  Those are words of Shaun Ballard after making the decision to merge.

"The fellas are really excited about our move, and we welcome any players from the Heat that would love to commute to Carson to be part of the Bulls family."  Says Defensive Back Herb Cash about the merge.

This merge gives the Bulls an opportunity to step into an established league their inaugural season, and cements a playing schedule with a full ten regular season games.

The UFAL is a league that started in 2009, and has teams all the way from San Diego to Las Vegas.  Last season, the California Raiders of San Bernadino defeated the Central Coast Grizzlies to claim the new league's first championship.  Hopefully the Bulls can contend for that title this season.

The UFAL currently has 12 teams: California Raiders, San Diego Thunder, Barstow Riffians, Las Vegas Titans, Compton Panthers, Moreno Valley Mercury, SoCal Apaches, California Tide, High Desert Phoenix, Central Coast Seminoles, OC Trojans, and now the Ragin Bulls/Heat.

Bulls Make Major Moves for 2010 Season

Picture
Owner Shaun Ballard announces signings
June 1, 2010 - The Carson Ragin' Bulls have made major roster moves these past couple of weeks, signing 19 players to one year contracts.  The majority of the signings are due to "a band of brothers" joining the Bulls this season.  This "band of brothers" found their way to Carson all the way from Santa Clarita to play for the blue and orange.  The Santa Clarita Maddogs, a great minor league team in their area ceased operations which left the players looking for a football family.  We are very thankful that they landed in our arms.  "We are very lucky to have landed these players."  Says Director of Player Personnel Chris Eddings.  "These are guys that are commited, that show up to practice on time ready to work.  If we were a powerhouse before, then this group definately adds to the beef of the team.  We welcome these guys not as Maddogs, but as Ragin' Bulls and they will be a key in having a successful 2010 season."

Some of the notable players in this group include QB Brian Bauer.  Last season Bauer completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 2,017 yards, 16 TD's and only 6 interceptions.  Bauer also added his value as a rusher ranked 4th in the LCFL with 508 rushing yards and 4 TD's.  Bauer is expected to compete with 2nd year QB Brandon Brooks for the starting spot.

Brandon Fuselier was an All-Star Linebacker in the LCFL last season.  Fuselier had a team leading 48 tackles, and also played fullback for the Maddogs last season.

Peter Dubsky was another All-Star selection at Defensive tackle last season.  2nd in the league with 13.5 sacks, Dubsky will generate a lot of turnovers for the Bull's defense.

Brandon Brard was a two way All-Star for the Maddogs last season, as a receiver Brard grabbed 33 balls for 527 yards and 6 TDs.  On defense Brard added 4 interceptions from his safety position.  His versatility will serve him well on the Bull's roster.

Other notable signings were offensive tackle Vincent Henry from Weber State, and Free Safety Robert Duno from Washington DC.

Please see transactions for all signings.

Moore makes a switch to Offense

Picture
Moore at Bulls Open Tryouts in March
May 10, 2010 - The Carson Bull's coaching staff has moved Defensive back Artis Moore to Running Back.  Moore, who was signed April 27th is pleased to hear of the decision.  "Runningback is his heart, he agreed to play defense because he really wants to be a member of this football team but I really think he can help us there."  Said Defensive Coordinator Gregg Ford.

Moore has displayed a great attitude and is expected to contribute right away in the backfield.  His speed and explosion will be exciting to see this upcoming season.

Bulls sign 3 LB's and a TE, release RB Robinson

May 10, 2010 - The Bulls made more off season transactions Monday morning, signing Linebackers Scott Posa, Tarrant Tutogi, and Junior Taliauli.  The Bulls also signed Tight End James Spanier, and released Runningback Julian Robinson.

Posa is an awesome physical specimen, he has great size at 6-4 230 and runs like a safety.  Tarrant Tutogi was a great force at middle linebacker in 2009 for the Long Beach Lions.  The Bulls Defense gets a great run stopper and leader out of Tutogi, who will make an immediate impact in the trenches.  Taliauli is another great athlete coming to compete for a roster position at Linebacker.  Junior played his high school ball at Long Beach Poly and is very versitile as he played defensive back, runningback, and special teams for the Jackrabbits.  Taliauli also played on the Long Beach Lions last season and started 10 games on defense.

Bulls to Start Mandatory Practice for 2010 Season

Picture
Andrew Harris (Left) and Craig Richardson
May 6, 2010 - The Carson Ragin' Bulls officially kick-off their 2010 Football Season today.  The Organization is very excited to take the field and put together a championship caliber team.  Team owner Shaun Ballard was quoted; "We have worked very hard this off season trying to get everything together, its going to be exciting to finally see the product of our hard work."

The Bulls practice facility will be Dominguez Park, in the beautiful City of Carson.  Practice is open to the public and starts at 6:30pm, every Thursday from this point to the end of the season.

The Bulls Organization also gets to see its new acquisitions for the first time; CB Raymond Friend was acquired last week and is expected to make a splash in the secondary, as are players LB Brian Spencer, and RB Alvin Marshall.  Other players have also been invited to participate in the session, which the Bulls Organization hope to add to the Roster.

In other transactions, the Bulls have released WR Andy Pena, and RB Ronnie Thomas.

Bulls release 2, add 4 including QB Brandon Brooks

April 17, 2010 - The Carson Bulls have made more roster moves releasing OL Julian Diaz and DB Antonio Crews.  The Bulls were also active in signing four new players QB Brandon Brooks, OL Chubbs Salima, DL Blas Lauati, and WR Jeremie Ruell.

The signing Brandon Brooks is arguably the best move of the off-season.  Brooks was the 2008 LCFL Offensive Rookie of the year playing on the 10-0 Orange County Jaguars.  He finished the 2008 season completing 60 percent of his passes for 2,176 yards, 23 TD's versus only 4 interceptions.  He also added 367 yards and 5 TD's rushing showing he is a great threat to run as well.  Brandon is a proven winner as he was the starting Quarterback for Long Beach Poly in 2002 and won back to back CIF Championships.  He also led Compton College to a 7-3 record, and the Western States Bowl in 2003.  Brooks finished his collegiate career at Norfolk State.

OL Chubbs Salima is going to get an opportunity to compete on both the Offensive and Defensive line as he is a versitile athlete.  DL Blas Lauati, also is a great athlete who terrorized LCFL quarterbacks last season with the SoCal Steelers.  Blas is very aggressive and the defense will thrive on his energy.  WR Jeremie Ruell is an interesting prospect that played cornerback for the Valley Trojans last season, and looks to make a smooth transition back to his natural position in 2010.

The Bulls will open up Minicamp today at Gonzales Park in Compton at 8am.

Bulls Open OTA's

Picture
April 8 - The Carson Ragin Bulls have started their 2010 Season on a positive note.  OTA's started March 25, and have been every Thursday night and early Saturday morning.  Although the workouts are voluntary for the team, there has been a great turnout at each session.  During these sessions, the Bulls Staff has also invited prospective players to add beef to their roster as well.  Chris Eddings, Director of Player Personnel had this to say.  "We are having a great off-season.  Guys are showing up to the OTA's with the right mind set to get in shape for the upcoming season.  We have also seen some great players come on an invite basis and open the coaches eyes."

This is a great step for the Bulls and their first season.  Many players seem excited and the coaching staff is putting in hard work to make sure the players get everything out of the sessions.  The Bulls open Mini-Camp April 17 so stay tuned for more information.

5 More Players Added to Roster

March 25, 2010 - The Ragin' Bulls signed five players to one year contracts.  DB Ray Ross, LB Ollie Meadows, LB Joey Sarantos, DL Pete Sarantos, and RB Craig Richardson will compete for roster spots this spring.

Ray Ross is a very seasoned vet who is known as one of the best safties in Minor League Football.  Last year, Ray played for the Long Beach Lions where he had an All-Star season.  He led the team with 5 interceptions in 2009.  Fellow defensive back Herb Cash was quoted "We expect Ray to be one of the best pure athletes on the team, he is very versatile and will excel in 2010".

Joey and Pete Sarantos are two great athletes who showed up to OTA's in great shape.  They both have played College and Professional Football, and look to bring great competition and leadership to the Bulls.  The Sarantos brothers also have a younger brother who is also expected to sign with the Bulls in the upcoming months.

Richardson was a 1st Team All American Running Back at Long Beach City College in 2003.  Richardson 6'0 200 pounds looks to immediately boost the Bulls ground game, and is considered an "Instant Impact" player.  Richardson is a runner with great instincts and power, he is also a good blocker and can catch out of the backfield.  "Craig is a complete running back and we expect big things from him this season" Says Chris Eddings, newly named Running Back Coach.

Linebacker Ollie Meadows is an interesting prospect.  Meadows attended Long Beach Poly High, but did not play football.  He began playing at LBCC and looked great at the Bull's open tryouts.  Meadows is very raw, but is in great shape and is a great athlete.  He will compete for a starting position at linebacker this spring.

Bull's First Day of Signing Headlined by Division 1 Stars

March 20, 2010 - The Carson Ragin' Bulls made their first off-season acquisitions for 2010 by signing "Name Brand" Recruits.  Executive Director of Player Personnel Chris Eddings has been doing a great job recruiting some of the area's best young talent.  The team Kick-off Meeting held at the Double Tree Hotel in the Carson was full of team supporters, Bull's Organization, and families of players.  The Bulls are definately taking the proper steps in becoming the model franchise, and these signings are just the beginning of what Bulls fans can expect in the future.  Eddings had great things to say during the meeting, but most notably was his one liner - "I am bringing the coaching staff the best athletes in the area.  I will leave it up to the coaches to turn this group of guys into a championship team."

One of the notable signings included Lawrence Guynes (shown above), a 6'2 200 pound Cornerback from the University of Idaho.  Regarded by The Sporting News as "The Star of the Recruiting Class" in 2004, Lawrence played two seasons for the Vandals.  Guynes was 1st Team All Western States Conference in 2003 at Citrus College, where he collected a league leading six interceptions and led his team to a 8-2 Record.

Jonathan Johnson (shown above) is a Kicker/ Punter from Arizona State University.  Johnson showed his athleticism at the Bulls tryouts when he offered his services at Quarterback.  Johnson was a Ray Guy Semi-finalist (The award for the best punter in the nation) at Arizona State, and moved on to go to NFL camp with the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers.

Safety Freddie Parish was one of the most highly touted recruits in the nation coming out of Long Beach Poly in 2003.  Parish signed with Notre Dame and played three years at defensive back for the Irish.  He received substantial playing time as a freshman, and as a sophomore started Cornerback against USC.  Freddie is know as a devistating hitter, and an intimidator out on the football field.  He finished his collegiate career at Stephen F. Austin.

Another great signing was local former Carson High School standout Wide Receiver Dwayne Sanders.  Sanders just finished his collegiate career at the University of Nevada, where he was one of the most dangerous return men in the nation.  Sanders averaged 25 yards per return in 2006, and is in his school record books top 10 for kickoff return yardage.

Other notable signings were WR DJ Toliver (Montana State), OL Julian Diaz (Cerritos College), WR Josh Ford (Carson H.S), and Minor League All Stars DB Kevin Moore (Orange County Ravens), DB Domonique Carter (Inglewood Blackhawks), DB Herb Cash (Long Beach Lions), WR Andrew Harris (Long Beach Lions), OL Anthony Casey (Long Beach Lions), RB Ronnie Thomas (Long Beach Lions), and DL Mark Tidwell (Long Beach Lions).

"We loved the intensity of the guys, they looked like they were having fun competing out there and we found some really good guys."

The Carson Ragin' Bulls will join the Continental American Football League kicking off in August.  2010 will be the inaugural season for the new league and is expected to field approximately 14 Teams, spanning from Southern California to Nevada, and Arizona.  League founders Bradley Tyer and Ken Harsha are well respected business associates, and plan to use the same league model the National Football League utilizes today.  This marks a new and great day in Minor Professional League Football, and The Bulls Organization is very excited for the opportunity to compete for a Championship in 2010.

"Hiring Mike as GM was a no brainer decision.  He is a great guy, very intelligent and is very happy to be a member of the Carson Bulls Organization.  He will make an immediate impact in our organization, and has already brought some great ideas to the table.  We look forward to working with Mike to make our organization a great one."

Bulls First Open Tryouts a Huge Success

Picture
Feb. 20 - The Carson Bulls made great strides kicking off their 2010 Season with a successful open tryout.  There was a turnout of roughly forty players, included in that list were many players with NFL, and NCAA playing experience.  The tryouts were held at East Los Angeles College, and the facilities were more than accommodating for the Bulls Organization.  There was great competition and intensity throughout the session, and many players opened the eyes of the Bull's Coaching Staff.  Among players in attendance was Quarterback Brandon Brooks, the 2008 LCFL Offensive Rookie of the year, who sat out the 2009 season due to a torn achilles.  Brooks showed no signs of his injury, running one of the fastest forty yard dash times of the day.  Other notable players were RB Alvin Marshall (UNLV), DT Joe Bradley (UL Lafayette), CB Lawrence Guynes (Idaho), QB Brian Partida, WR DJ Toliver (Montana State), and WR Josh Ford (Carson H.S).  There were other great players in attendance, hopefully the Bulls Organization can manage to put together a competitive team in their first season.

Next Tryouts will be held on an invite only basis...Date/Time/Location information TBA.

 PLEASE STAY TUNED!!!
